SAFE Corporation Announces CodeScreener
Online Service for Detecting Software Plagiarism
CodeScreener is an affordable and
easy-to-use solution for detecting software plagiarism
CUPERTINO, CA (November 16, 2010) - Software Analysis
& Forensic Engineering Corporation, the leading
provider of forensic software tools for the detection
of software copyright infringement and trade secret
misappropriation, today announced the release of CodeScreener,
an online software service offering comparison of software
source code or binary code. CodeScreener
measures the correlation between two application programs,
social network games, or mobile apps to identify plagiarism.
Michael Barr, president of Netrino
commented, "As a certified CodeSuite user, I was
excited about the introduction of CodeScreener. With
the access and affordability of CodeScreener, I believe
that more software developers will be able to determine
if their software has been copied. CodeScreener will
give developers an important tool to protect their intellectual
property."
CodeScreener uses SAFE's patented, state-of-the-art
CodeSuite® forensic software as the back-end analysis
engine. SAFE's years of experience serving software
experts in IP litigation allowed them to create an easy-to-use
service for detecting software plagiarism. CodeScreener
currently supports 25 programming languages (listed
in the table below) with more being added regularly.
CodeScreener can compare source code or compiled object
code.

CodeScreener includes a unique common-use filter option
that uses Internet searches to eliminate correlation
not caused by copying. The result is a clean report
where any remaining correlation found warrants examination
as potential copying.
"Since incorporating SAFE in 2007, we have seen
a growing need for an online code screening solution
that developers could use" said Bob Zeidman, president
of SAFE Corporation. "The challenge was to provide
a clean report that reduced false positives, typically
the work of an expert. CodeScreener meets this challenge
in an easy-to-use online service."
Access to CodeScreener is available now at www.CodeScreener.com.
Pricing is $100 per report.
